SOAC MEMORIAL GARDEN:
In the Fall of 2006, SOAC’s House and Grounds Committee completed its Memorial Garden in memory and honor of our past members who have unselfishly dedicated their lives to care for our community and answer the call. The Memorial Garden is located in front of our new Headquarters and EMS Training Center and it includes memorial bricks, benches and lighting.
The Corps also elected to dedicate the Garden’s benches as follows.
Bench Dedications:
In Memory of All American Veterans
Who Valiantly Protected Our Country’s Freedoms.
In Memory Of All The Victims.
In Honor Of The First Responders Heroism.
Always Remembered.
~ SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 ~
We invite you to visit our Memorial Garden. Memorial Bricks for our Garden can be obtained for past members at NO CHARGE and inscribed with the past members name as a tribute to their community service. Please contact the President @ President@SOACEMS.org for further information.

Search, Rescue, Recovery Teams
A special salute to over 25 year Corps Member, Sonny Whynman, for all his tireless efforts at Ground Zero with his search and rescue dog, Piper. Sonny and Piper are members of NJ Task Force 1. The Corps recognizes and appreciates all the efforts of the men and women and their dogs who performed very difficult and dangerous search, rescue and recovery duties at the World Trade Center site ‘Ground Zero’ and at the Pentagon.

Sadly, Piper, one of the last surviving search and rescue dogs that worked at the World Trade Center site, ‘Ground Zero’, passed away in September, 2006 in part due to respiratory problems attributed to his time spent at the site working as a critical component of the search, rescue and recovery effort. Sonny received hundreds of condolences from throughout the Country on the passing of Piper. Piper was well loved and respected.

The Corps joins with the rest of Sonny’s Task Force and with Search and Rescue Task Force teams throughout the Country in saluting Piper and remembering all the good work performed throughout the years.
