GET TRAINED IN CPR! ... MAY 15, 2010
In recognition of National Emergency Medical Services Week, the South Orangetown Ambulance Corps Training Division in conjunction with our CARE LINK partners, is offering another opportunity for members of the community to learn how to save a life by getting trained in CPR. The CPR skills are now even easier to learn and proven to be just as effective for the bystander to play a vital role in the chain of survival.
The 2010 CARE LINK CPR Saturday is being held at Orangetown Town Hall. You can register for the morning session (8:30am - 12:00pm) or the afternoon session (12:30pm - 4:00pm) by calling Town Hall at 845-359-5100 x 2261.
CARE LINK CPR participants will receive hands on training and learn skills in the performance of ADULT and CHILD CPR as well as public access defibrillation. If you haven't taken CPR, or haven't refreshed your skills in a while, this is a great opportunity to help strengthen our community's emergency preparedness and your ability to be an critical member in the chain of survival if you encounter an emergency.
CARE LINK 'CPR SATURDAY'
Orangetown... Get Hands On - Learn CPR!
An Orangetown CARE LINK 'CPR Saturday' was held March 24, 2007 at Town Hall as a part of the 2007 CARE LINK CPR program to train as many members of the community as possible in the 'new' CPR guidelines and public access defibrillation (AED). 'CPR Saturday' was a great success with over 90 members of the community learning life saving adult and child CPR skills and how to use an automated external defibrillator to help save a life should they be first on the scene for a victim of sudden cardiac arrest.
Basic community level CPR classes are being offered throughout the year at your local ambulance corps. Classes are also being taught for students and staff at Orangetown's High Schools. CARE LINK CPR Training events can be scheduled for the Community, groups and organizations by contacting the SOAC Training Division. Learn life saving training and help make our community safer and better prepared during emergencies.
2002
The CARE LINK project had a simple goal in its first year with CARE LINK CPR. The goal was to train as many people as possible in the community to save a life through CPR education and training. In a one year period ending in May, 2003, CARE LINK Community CPR Programs, in conjunction with special CPR programs and initiatives offered in the schools and at other locations throughout Orangetown, over 1,700 members of the community were trained to save a life. CARE LINK CPR programs and other CPR programs have continued and will continue to provide this beneficial training which now also incorporates and introduces the concept of public access defibrillation. It is the general public who are critical first responders in the “chain of survival” in our community.
