Are you in need of volunteers?
What kind of people are you looking for?
Being an EMS volunteer requires commitment and a willingness to meet the challenges of saving lives and caring for people in our community in times of crisis. We’re looking for Adult Corps and Youth Division riding members as well as members of the community who would like to assist in an Administrative or Training Division capacity. Our critical need is for riding crew members. As a riding member, along the way you'll learn lifesaving, communications and leadership skills. Plus, you’ll develop the type of self-confidence, compassion and emergency preparedness that only emergency workers can experience and you’ll find yourself making a real difference in people’s lives
Do I need any training or certification to join?
WE WILL TRAIN YOU.
What will be my time commitment?
We understand “free time” these days is at a premium so our training and scheduling is flexible, allowing for members to pick hours and shifts that are convenient for them, day or night, during the week and/or on weekends. Many of our members do manage to volunteer for other community organizations while still giving time as an emergency responder with SOAC. We ask that you please plan on volunteering a minimum total of 12 hours a month to help keep our ambulances staffed. If you have more time to offer… we’ll take it! A small amount of your time can make a life saving difference.
What will my membership look like?
South Orangetown Ambulance Corps EMS operates a “state of the art” fleet of emergency vehicles with cutting edge equipment. We respond from our newly refurbished and constructed, EMS Headquarters and Training Center in Tappan. The biggest benefit of membership in the Corps is the ability to help a neighbor or stranger in their greatest time of need and the sense of accomplishment and self satisfaction when they turn to you to say “THANK YOU”. The Corps is a big family where life long friendships are built and you work side by side with fellow members who share the same willingness and dedication to help care for our community.
